Accessing Performance Music

If you haven't already, please read about  Configuring Performance Music before trying to access Performance Music.

Performance music allows groups to upload any music that accompanies their performance.  Only Color Guard events are enabled for performance music.  If you are hosting another type of event that needs performance music, please email help@competitionsuite.com for assistance.

Downloading Performance Music

People with access to the management of an event (Organization Administrators, Tabulators, or Event Managers) are able to play or download Performance Music at any time.  It is advised to wait until the Allow Uploads Until date/time has passed before downloading the Performance Music.

To download individual performance music:

  1. Click Announcer for the competition.
  2. Then click Performance Music.
If you see a message indicating that there are No Groups, please add groups to the lineup.
  3. Find the group you'd like to download and click the Download button.  The download button looks like a cloud with a down arrow inside.
  4. The file will be downloaded to your computer.

When the Allow Uploads Until date has passed, you'll be able to download the entire competition.  Prior to that date, you will see a message indicating that you can't download the full competition.

To download the entire competition:

  1. Click Announcer for the competition.
  2. Then click Performance Music.
If you see a message indicating that there are No Groups, please add groups to the lineup.
  3. Click the Download Performance Music button.
  4. A ZIP file containing the entire competition will be downloaded to your computer.
  5. Inside the ZIP file, you will find a file for every group in the lineup.
If a group did NOT upload performance music, a blank file will be downloaded in it's spot and the filename will contain the word "MISSING" to indicate that the file is missing and they are responsible for providing performance music to the announcer or sound technician.

Playing Performance Music

CompetitionSuite recommends downloading the Performance Music and providing it to the announcer or sound technician as opposed to playing the files through the CompetitionSuite web site.  If the computer running playing the music were to lose it's internet connection, the files would be inaccessible and can't be played until the internet connection is reestablished.

You can use software such as QLab (CompetitionSuite does not have any affiliation with QLab and cannot provide support/assistance with this product).

We suggest avoiding software like iTunes and Windows Media Player. These players have equalizers that can affect the music output to the sound system.  This can adversely affect the quality of the sound and alter the expected output.

To play individual performance music:

  1. Click Announcer for the competition.
  2. Then click Performance Music.
If you see a message indicating that there are No Groups, please add groups to the lineup.
  3. Find the group you'd like to play and click the Play button.  The play button looks like a sideways triangle.
  4. The file will begin playing
