Responding to Account Merge Requests
If you have multiple CompetitionSuite accounts, you or someone else may have requested to merge them. This guide explains how to respond to merge requests.
What Is Account Merging?
Account merging combines two CompetitionSuite accounts into one. After merging:
- All groups, organizations, and access are consolidated
- Historical data from both accounts is preserved
- You'll only need to sign in with one account going forward
Finding Merge Requests
When someone sends you a merge request, a notification appears on your Overview page. The notification shows a partially hidden email address of the account requesting the merge.
Accepting a Merge Request
To accept the merge:
Step 1: Verify the Request
Make sure you recognize the email address shown. This should be another account you own or control.
Step 2: Confirm Your Identity
To prevent unauthorized merges, you must type your full email address in the confirmation field. This proves you're the owner of the receiving account.
Step 3: Complete the Merge
Click Accept to finalize the merge. The accounts will be combined.
Important: After three incorrect confirmation attempts, the merge request is automatically rejected for security purposes.
Rejecting a Merge Request
If you don't recognize the request or don't want to merge:
- Click Reject on the merge notification
- The request is cancelled
- The requesting account is notified
After Merging
Once accounts are merged:
- Sign in using your primary account credentials
- All access and history from both accounts is available
- The secondary account can no longer be used to sign in
Troubleshooting
I don't recognize the merge request
- Reject the request if you didn't initiate it
- Consider updating your password if you're concerned about security
I typed my email but it won't accept
- Ensure you're typing the exact email address (including capitalization for some systems)
- Check for extra spaces before or after the email
I merged the wrong accounts
- Contact CompetitionSuite support immediately
- Account merges may be reversible if caught quickly
The merge request expired
- Merge requests may expire after a period of time
- Ask the person to send a new merge request
