Removing Contacts from Your Organization
Remove a contact when they should no longer have any association with your organization.
What Happens When You Remove a Contact
Removing a contact:
- Revokes all organization-level roles and permissions
- Removes them from all custom lists
- Removes their judge assignments for your organization
- Removes them from the People page
Removing a contact does not:
- Delete their CompetitionSuite account
- Remove them from groups (they may still be group staff)
- Affect their access to other organizations
- Delete historical data (scores, commentary, etc. are retained)
Before Removing a Contact
Consider whether you should instead:
- Remove specific roles if they should retain some access
- Remove from custom lists only if they should remain in your People list
- Keep them as a contact with no roles for historical reference
How to Remove a Contact
- Navigate to People in your organization
- Click on the contact's name to open their profile
- Click the red Remove Contact button in the lower left
- Review the confirmation message
- Click Yes, remove [Name] to confirm
The contact is immediately removed from your organization.
When You Cannot Remove a Contact
You cannot remove a contact if:
This is You
You cannot remove yourself from the organization. Another Organization Admin must remove your access if needed.
You're Not an Admin and They Are
If you have User Management permission but not Organization Admin:
- You cannot remove Organization Admins
- The Remove Contact button is hidden or disabled
- A warning message explains the restriction
They're Still a Group Member
The remove action removes organization-level access but doesn't affect group membership. If someone is staff for a group:
- Remove them from the group first (through Group management)
- Then remove them from People if desired
Or simply remove their organization roles and leave them as a group member only.
Re-Adding a Removed Contact
If you need to restore access for someone you removed:
- Navigate to People
- Click Create a New Contact
- Enter their email address
- Click Create Contact
- Assign roles as needed
Their previous role assignments are not restored automatically. You must reassign any permissions they need.
Removing Unknown Contacts
Contacts created without email addresses (Unknown Contacts) can be removed the same way:
- Open their profile
- Click Remove Contact
- Confirm the removal
Since these contacts have no real account, removing them completely disassociates them from your organization.
Tips
- Review access levels before removing - you may only need to adjust roles
- Removed contacts can still see public information about your organization
- Historical records (judge scores, assignments) remain intact for reporting
- If you accidentally remove someone, re-add them using their email address
