Manage Timer Settings
Learn how to add, configure, edit, and remove individual timers within a timer system.
Timer Settings
Each timer in a timer system has the following settings:
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | A descriptive name for the timer (e.g., "Performance", "Setup", "Teardown") |
| Primary Timer | Whether this is the main timer for the system. Exactly one timer must be primary. |
| Start with Primary | If enabled, this timer automatically starts when the primary timer starts. Only available for non-primary timers. |
| Min Time | The minimum allowed time. Format: M:SS (e.g., "5:00" for 5 minutes) |
| Max Time | The maximum allowed time. Format: M:SS (e.g., "11:00" for 11 minutes) |
| Penalty | Points deducted for time violations |
| Penalty Seconds | How many seconds of violation per penalty point (e.g., "1" means 1 penalty point per second over/under) |

Understanding Time Format
Enter times in minutes:seconds format:
| You Enter | Meaning |
|---|---|
5:00 |
5 minutes, 0 seconds |
11:30 |
11 minutes, 30 seconds |
0:45 |
45 seconds |
15:00 |
15 minutes |
Understanding Penalties
Penalties are calculated when a performance time falls outside the min/max range.
Example Configuration:
- Min Time: 5:00
- Max Time: 11:00
- Penalty: 0.1 points
- Penalty Seconds: 1
How it works:
- Performance finishes at 4:50 (10 seconds under) = 10 x 0.1 = 1.0 point deduction
- Performance finishes at 11:15 (15 seconds over) = 15 x 0.1 = 1.5 point deduction
- Performance finishes at 8:00 (within range) = No penalty
Penalty Intervals
The Penalty Seconds setting lets you group seconds into intervals:
- Penalty: 0.5 points, Penalty Seconds: 10 = Deduct 0.5 points for every 10 seconds
- Penalty: 1.0 point, Penalty Seconds: 30 = Deduct 1.0 point for every 30 seconds
Tips
Primary Timer Rules
- Every timer system must have exactly one primary timer
- When you mark a timer as primary, any existing primary timer is automatically changed to non-primary
- The primary timer is indicated by an orange checkmark icon in the timer list
Start with Primary
- Use this for timers that should run simultaneously with the main performance
- Common example: A "Music Time" timer that tracks only while music is playing during the performance
- This option is disabled if the timer is the primary timer
Setting Up Penalties
- Set Min Time and Max Time to
0:00if you don't want time limits for that timer - Set Penalty to
0if you want to track time without penalties - Penalties only apply when both a time limit is set AND the penalty value is greater than zero
Remove a Timer System
To delete an entire timer system (not just individual timers):
- Open the timer system by clicking its name
- Click the Remove button (red, bottom-left corner of the modal)
- Confirm the removal when prompted
Warning: Removing a timer system removes all timers within it and cannot be undone.
