# Setting Up Schedule Templates Schedule templates help you define consistent timing structures for your event schedules. Instead of manually configuring schedule columns each time you create an event schedule, templates let you create reusable structures that can be applied across multiple events. ## What is a Schedule Template? A schedule template is a predefined structure of schedule items (columns) that determine what information appears on your event schedules and how performance times are calculated. Templates are specific to each group type (e.g., Color Guard, Percussion, Winds) in your organization. Each schedule template includes: - **Name** - A descriptive name for the template - **Description** - Optional notes about when to use the template - **Schedule Items** - The columns and timing entries that make up the schedule When applying templates to competition schedules, you can also configure [custom interval settings](custom-interval-settings.md) per group type to adjust timing calculations. ## Why Use Schedule Templates? - **Consistency** - Ensure all events use the same schedule format - **Time Savings** - Create the structure once and reuse it across events - **Flexibility** - Create different templates for different event types (prelims, finals, championships) - **Accuracy** - Define timing calculations that automatically adjust based on interval times ## Accessing Schedule Templates 1. Log in to CompetitionSuite as an organization administrator 2. Navigate to your organization 3. Click **Settings** in the top navigation 4. Select **Schedule Templates** from the Setup menu ## Prerequisites Before you can create schedule templates, you must have at least one **Group Type** (configuration) set up in your organization. If you haven't created any group types yet, you'll see a message prompting you to create one first. ## Schedule Templates List The Schedule Templates page organizes your templates by group type.
