Click **Save** to apply changes ### What You Can Modify - **Name** - Update the template name - **Description** - Add or edit the description - **Schedule Items** - Add, remove, or reorder items - **Item Settings** - Change types, labels, timing values, and configurable settings ### Modifying Schedule Items #### Change Item Type Select a different type from the dropdown menu for any removable item. #### Update Labels Edit the label text field to change how the column header appears on schedules. #### Adjust Timing Modify the Intervals and Minutes values to change when time entries occur relative to the performance time. #### Toggle Configurable Switch between Yes/No to control whether the timing can be adjusted when adding groups to a competition schedule. #### Remove Items Click the **X** icon to remove a custom schedule item. You'll be asked to confirm before the item is removed. > **Note:** The "Group Name" and "Perform" items cannot be removed as they are required for all schedule templates. ## Cloning a Template Cloning creates a copy of an existing template, which is useful when you need a similar template with slight modifications. ### To Clone a Template 1. Click on the template you want to clone 2. Click the **Clone** button in the modal footer 3. The modal will reload with a copy of all settings 4. The name will automatically be prefixed with "Clone of" 5. Update the name and make any desired changes 6. Click **Save** to create the new template ### When to Clone - Creating a variant for a different event type (e.g., cloning "Standard Schedule" to create "Championship Schedule") - Testing changes without affecting the original template - Creating group type-specific versions from a base template ## Removing a Template > **Warning:** Removing a template is permanent and cannot be undone. This will not affect schedules that were already created using this template. ### To Remove a Template 1. Click on the template you want to remove 2. Click the **Remove** button (red button at the bottom left) 3. Review the confirmation message 4. Click **Yes, remove [Template Name]** to confirm ### Before Removing Consider whether: - Other administrators may be using this template - You might need this template for future events - A different template could serve the same purpose If unsure, consider renaming the template (e.g., adding "DEPRECATED" to the name) rather than removing it. ## Best Practices ### Naming Conventions Use consistent naming that indicates: - Event type (Prelims, Finals, Championships) - Any special timing considerations (Extended Warmup, Quick Turnaround) - Season or year if templates change annually **Examples:** - "2024 Regional - Standard" - "Finals Day - Extended Critique" - "Championship - Full Warmup Cycle" ### Template Organization - Keep templates specific to their use case - Remove unused templates to reduce clutter - Document template purposes in the description field ### Version Control When making significant changes: 1. Clone the existing template 2. Rename the original to indicate it's deprecated 3. Make changes to the clone 4. Test the new template before removing the old one ## Troubleshooting ### Template Not Saving - Ensure the name is not empty and is under 50 characters - Verify the description is under 300 characters - Check that all schedule item labels are under 100 characters - Confirm Intervals and Minutes fields contain valid numbers ### Schedule Items Not Calculating Correctly - Verify the Example Interval field has a valid number - Check that Intervals and Minutes values are entered correctly - Remember that negative numbers indicate times before the Perform time ### Cannot Find Template - Ensure you're looking under the correct group type panel - Check if another administrator may have removed the template - Try refreshing the page ## Related Topics - [Create a Schedule Template](creating-schedule-templates.md) - [Setting Up Schedule Templates](schedule-templates-overview.md) - [Creating a Schedule](/article/97-creating-a-schedule)
