Setting Up Payment Collection with Stripe

CompetitionSuite gives your organization two ways to collect money for things like season memberships and event registration: online credit card payments through Stripe, and invoices that you collect yourself.

Open Payment Collection Settings

  1. Click on your organization
  2. Click Settings in the top-right corner
  3. Click Payment Collection in the list on the left

Connect to Stripe

CompetitionSuite integrates with Stripe to process credit card payments. You will need a Stripe account linked to CompetitionSuite before you can accept online payments.

  1. In the Credit Cards panel, click Connect to Stripe
  2. Sign in to your existing Stripe account, or create a new one
  3. Complete Stripe's connection steps

When you finish, you are returned to the Payment Collection page and the panel confirms your organization is connected.

CompetitionSuite does not charge a processing fee on payments, but Stripe does. Stripe's current rates are listed on their pricing page.

Choose Who Pays the Credit Card Fees

Once connected, the Credit Cards panel shows whether the organization or the payer currently covers Stripe's processing fees. Click the button in the panel to switch between the two.

When the payer covers the fees, the fee is added to their total at checkout, and public invoices show the fee-inclusive amount.

Enable Invoices and Quotes

If you prefer to collect payments yourself (by check, for example), enable invoicing in the Invoices panel:

  1. Switch Invoices to Enabled
  2. Optionally switch Quotes to Enabled if you also want to send quotes (quotes require invoices to be enabled)
  3. Fill in your organization's mailing address in the Address fields — this appears on the invoice as where payments should be sent
  4. Set Balance Due in to the number of days payers have to pay
  5. Add an Invoice Note if you want extra instructions printed on every invoice
  6. Enter a Help Contact Name, Help Email, and Help Phone # so payers know who to reach with questions
  7. Click Update Invoice Information
