Judge Notes Overview

Judge Notes are written feedback that judges can provide for each performance. Unlike audio commentary, notes are text-based and can be viewed, edited, and released to groups directly from the Notes page.

Accessing Notes

  1. Navigate to your Organization
  2. Select the Event you want to manage
  3. Click Notes in the event navigation menu

Page Layout

The Notes page is organized into two main sections:

  • Group Access Toggle - Switch between Automatic and Manual release modes for notes
  • Division/Round Filter - Select "All Divisions" or filter by specific division and round

Performance List

Notes are organized hierarchically by:

  1. Division - Top-level grouping showing the division name
  2. Round - If the division has multiple rounds (Prelims, Finals, etc.)
  3. Performance (Group) - Each performing group's panel
  4. Caption - Individual judge assignments showing the caption initials and judge name

Understanding the Display

Performance Panels

Each group's performance is displayed in a collapsible panel showing:

  • Group name - The performing group's name (or anonymized ID if the event uses anonymous judging)
  • Location - The group's location, if available
  • Release controls - When in Manual mode, buttons to release or unrelease notes for this performance
  • Collapse/Expand icon - Click the chevron to show or hide caption details

Caption Rows

Each caption row displays:

  • Caption Initials - The scoring caption (e.g., GE, VIS, MUS)
  • Judge Name - The assigned judge's name
  • Edit Icon - Click to view or edit the judge's note
  • Note Preview - The current note text, or "No note" if none exists

Training Captions

Captions marked with a yellow "training" label indicate training judges. Training notes are visible to administrators but are not released to groups regardless of the release settings. Training captions are configured in your scoring system settings.
