Managing Group Members (Organization Admins)
As an organization admin, you can manage membership for any group in your organization. This guide covers member management from the organization admin area.
Accessing Group Member Management
- Go to Organization Admin
- Click Groups in the navigation
- Select a group to manage
- View and manage members in the group details panel
Your Capabilities
From the organization admin area, you can:
- View all members and their types
- Add new members with any member type
- Change existing members' types
- Approve or deny pending membership requests
- View the member audit log
Adding Members to a Group
- Open the group's details panel
- In the Add Member section, enter the person's email
- Select the member type:
- Admin
- Staff Member
- Competitor
- Event Messages Only
- Click Add
Note: You must select a member type before adding—there's no default.
Changing a Member's Type
- Find the member in the group's member list
- Use the dropdown to select a new member type
- The change takes effect immediately
Important: Changing FROM Competitor
When you change someone from Competitor to any other type, all their individually-granted caption access is automatically revoked. This action is logged in the audit trail.
Approving Pending Requests
Pending membership requests show:
- The person's name and email
- The member type they requested (displayed as a badge)
To approve:
- Review the requested member type
- Either approve with their requested type, or select a different type and approve
Viewing the Audit Log
The audit log shows all member-related changes for the group, including:
- Who was added or removed
- Member type changes
- Caption access grants and revocations
- Who made each change and when
Key Differences from Group Admin View
| Feature | Organization Admin | Group Admin |
|---|---|---|
| Access via | Organization Admin > Groups | Group > Admin > Member Management |
| Scope | Can manage any group | Only their assigned group |
| Competitor access grants | Not available | Can grant/revoke caption access |
Note: Granting and revoking competitor caption access must be done from within the group's admin area (by a group admin), not from the organization admin area.
Best Practices
- Coordinate with group admins: Let group admins handle day-to-day member management when possible.
- Use for initial setup: Organization admin access is ideal for setting up new groups with initial members.
- Handle escalations: Use this access when group admins need assistance or are unavailable.
