Archiving Divisions

Archive divisions that are no longer actively used to keep your division list organized. Archived divisions remain in the system for historical records but are hidden from most selection lists and event setup screens.

When to Archive a Division

Consider archiving a division when:

  • The division is no longer offered in your current season
  • You've restructured your competitive classes and replaced this division
  • The division was used for a one-time event or pilot program
  • You want to reduce clutter in dropdown menus and setup screens

How Archiving Works

When you archive a division:

  • Preserved - All historical scores, placements, and event data remain intact
  • Hidden from new events - The division won't appear in event setup division selection
  • Visible in reports - Past event reports and recaps continue to work correctly
  • Reversible - You can unarchive the division at any time to restore it

Archiving a Division

  1. Navigate to your organization
  2. Click Settings in the top navigation
  3. Select Divisions from the setup menu
  4. Find the division you want to archive
  5. Click on the division name to open its settings
  6. Click the Archive button
  7. Confirm the action when prompted

The division will now appear grayed out in your divisions list with an "archived" label.

Unarchiving a Division

To restore an archived division:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Divisions
  2. Find the archived division (shown grayed out with "archived" label)
  3. Click on the division name to open its settings
  4. Click the Unarchive button
  5. Confirm the action when prompted

The division will be restored and available for use in new events.

Archived Divisions in the Interface

Archived divisions are visually distinguished:

Location How Archived Divisions Appear
Division list Grayed out with "archived" badge
Event setup Not shown in division selection
Past events Normal display with all data
Reports Full access to historical data

Best Practices

Before Archiving

  • Verify no upcoming events are using this division
  • Consider if you might need this division again soon
  • Document why you're archiving (useful for future reference)

Why Archiving?

Archiving is the recommended way to handle divisions you no longer need because:

  • Historical data is preserved for reporting
  • You can restore the division if needed
  • Audit trails remain intact
  • No data loss occurs

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I still access scores from archived divisions?

Yes. All historical scores, recaps, and placement data remain fully accessible in past event reports.

Will archived divisions appear in public pages?

No. Archived divisions are hidden from public-facing pages and group registration.

Can I archive multiple divisions at once?

Currently, divisions must be archived individually. This helps prevent accidental archiving of active divisions.

What happens to groups registered in an archived division?

Groups that previously competed in an archived division retain their full competition history. The archive only affects new event setup going forward.
