Understanding Member Types

Your group has four member types, each with different access levels. Choosing the right type ensures everyone sees what they need—nothing more, nothing less.

Member Types at a Glance

Type Best For Access Level
Admin Directors, head coaches Full access + can manage members
Staff Member Instructors, assistants Full access to all content
Competitor Performers, students Only feedback shared by admin
Event Messages Only Chaperones, boosters, parents Notifications only

When to Use Each Type

Admin

Use for people who need to manage the group: add or remove members, grant access to competitors, and view the audit log. Admins also have full access to all scores, commentary, videos, and resources.

Typical roles: Director, Head Coach, Program Administrator

Staff Member

Use for instructors and coaches who need to see all performance feedback but don't need to manage members. Staff Members see everything Admins see, except they cannot add/remove members or grant competitor access.

Typical roles: Assistant Instructor, Coach, Choreographer, Music Director

Competitor

Use for performers who should only see specific feedback that you choose to share with them. Competitors cannot access scores, videos, or resources unless you explicitly grant access to individual captions.

Typical roles: Student performer, Athlete, Ensemble member

Event Messages Only

Use for people who need to stay informed about schedules and announcements but don't need access to performance details. Perfect for support personnel who help with logistics.

Typical roles: Chaperone, Band Booster, Parent volunteer, Equipment manager
