Find My Group
The Find My Group feature allows you to search for and request access to groups within CompetitionSuite. Use this when you need to join a group that you don't currently have access to.
Accessing Find My Group
There are two ways to access the Find My Group page:
- From your Overview page, click Don't see your group? in the My Groups section
- Navigate directly to
/groups/find/
Searching for a Group
To find a group:
- Enter the group's name (or part of it) in the search field
- Click Find My Group or press Enter
Search Tips:
- Use at least 4 characters for best results
- Search by group name only (not organization or division)
- Partial names work well (e.g., "North" will find "Northview High School")
If your search returns too many results, you'll be asked to be more specific. Try entering more of the group's full name.
Understanding Search Results
Search results display in a table with the following information:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Organization | The circuit or organization the group belongs to |
| Name | The group's full name and location |
| Division | The competitive division the group is registered in |
| Action | Your current status or available actions |
Status Indicators
Each group in the results shows one of three statuses:
- Associated - You already have access to this group
- Access Pending - You've requested access and are waiting for approval
- Request Access (button) - Click to request access to this group
Requesting Access
To request access to a group:
- Search for the group using the steps above
- Find the correct group in the search results
- Select your member type from the dropdown:
- Staff Member — For instructors, coaches, and staff who need full access to all scores, commentary, and videos
- Competitor — For performers who will receive specific feedback shared by administrators
- Event Messages Only — For chaperones, boosters, and support personnel who only need event notifications
- Click the Request Access button
After clicking, the button changes to Access Pending to confirm your request was submitted.
Note: The Admin option is not available when requesting to join. If you need administrative access, request as Staff Member and ask a current admin to upgrade your access after approval.
What Happens Next
When you request access:
- A notification is sent to the organization (circuit) administrators
- Group managers are also notified of your request
- The administrator will see the member type you requested
- The administrator can approve you with your requested type, or choose a different type
- You'll receive access once an administrator approves your request
If Your Request Isn't Approved
If you haven't received approval after a reasonable time:
- Contact your organization (circuit) directly
- Verify you requested access to the correct group
- Confirm with the group's director that they received your request
Note: CompetitionSuite staff cannot approve access requests. All approvals must come from the organization or group administrators.
Can't Find Your Group?
If your group doesn't appear in search results:
- Check your spelling - Try different variations of the name
- Use partial names - Search for a distinctive word from the group name
- Contact your organization - The group may need to be created first, or the organization may not allow group search
Some organizations disable group search for privacy reasons. If this is the case, contact your organization administrator directly to be added to the group.
