Create an Event
Create new events in CompetitionSuite to manage competitions, judging, and scoring for your organization.
Before You Begin
Before creating an event, ensure you have:
- Organization Setup Access or Event Create Access permission
- At least one active Season configured for your organization
If the "Create a New Event" button is disabled, you need to create a new season first.
Access the Event Creation Screen
- Navigate to your organization
- Select Events from the navigation menu
- Click Create a New Event
The event creation wizard opens.
Step 1: Enter Event Details
Event Name (Required)
Enter a descriptive name for your event. This name appears:
- On the events list
- In registration forms (if enabled)
- On recaps and published scores
Examples: "Fall Championships 2025", "Regional Qualifier - East", "Spring Concert Festival"
Location (Optional)
Enter the venue or location where the event takes place. This helps participants find your event.
Examples: "Memorial Stadium", "Downtown Convention Center", "Lincoln High School"
Event Type
Select the competition structure for your event:

| Single Competition | One competition with a single round of performances | Standard contests, showcases, festivals |
| Prelims & Finals | Two-round competition with advancement | Championship events, competitions with cuts |
| Prelims, Semifinals, & Finals | Three-round competition with two advancement stages | Large championships, multi-day events |
Season
Select the season this event belongs to. The season determines:
- Available dates (events must fall within the season date range)
- Available pricing tiers
- Default configurations
Only upcoming seasons appear in this list.
Event Date(s)
Select the date(s) for your event based on the event type:
- Single Competition: Select one date
- Prelims & Finals: Select the Prelims date, then the Finals date
- Prelims, Semifinals, & Finals: Select dates for each round
Date Requirements:
- All dates must fall within the selected season's date range
- Dates must be in chronological order (Prelims before Semifinals before Finals)
- Events can span multiple days
Click Continue when finished.
Step 2: Select Event Level
Choose the pricing tier that matches your event's needs. Available levels depend on your season configuration.
Practice (Free)
Best for: Training events, mock competitions, internal practices
Features:

Step 3: Payment Information
For paid event levels (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum), provide payment information.
Use a Saved Credit Card
If you've previously saved a credit card:
- Select Saved Credit Card
- Choose the card from the list
- Click Select Card
Enter a New Credit Card
- Select New Credit Card
- Enter the card details:
- Name on Card: Cardholder's full name
- Card Number: 16-digit card number
- Expires: Expiration date (MM/YYYY)
- Card Code: 3 or 4-digit security code (CVC)
- Optionally check Save Card for future use
Skip Credit Card Details
If your organization has this option enabled:
- Select Skip Credit Card Details
- The event will be created but remain inactive until payment is provided
Note: Events without payment information display a warning and cannot be fully activated.
Complete Event Creation
Click Create Event to finish. You'll be redirected to the Event Setup page where you can:
- Configure event details
- Add competitions and divisions
- Set up registration
- Configure judges and scoring
- Create the schedule
Troubleshooting
"Create a New Event" button is disabled
Cause: No upcoming seasons are configured.
Solution: Create a new season before creating events.
Event dates are restricted
Cause: Dates must fall within the selected season's date range.
Solution: Verify your season's start and end dates, or select a different season.
Prelims date must be before Finals date
Cause: Competition dates must be in chronological order.
Solution: Adjust the dates so earlier rounds occur before later rounds.
Missing payment information warning
Cause: Credit card details weren't provided during creation.
Solution: Go to Event Setup > Payment and add a credit card to activate your event.
