Using Announcer Scripts

The Announcer Script feature generates formatted score sheets that announcers can use to read scores aloud during awards ceremonies. Choose between a script format for reading or a grid format for quick reference.

Accessing Announcer Scripts

  1. Navigate to your organization
  2. Select the event from your event list
  3. Click the competition name
  4. Select Score Release from the competition menu
  5. Click Announcer Script in the left sidebar

Script Formats

For each division and round, you can generate two types of announcer sheets:

View as Script

The script format presents scores in a readable, narrative style designed for announcers to read aloud during awards ceremonies. This format typically includes:

  • Group names in announcement order
  • Placement information
  • Total scores
  • Formatted text suitable for reading

Best for: Live awards ceremonies where scores are announced verbally.

View as Grid

The grid format displays scores in a compact table layout for quick reference. This format shows:

  • All groups in a tabular view
  • Score breakdowns by category
  • Easy visual comparison between groups

Best for: Quick reference during scoring review, tabulation staff, or situations where the full narrative isn't needed.

Generating Announcer Sheets

  1. Navigate to the Announcer Script page
  2. Locate the division you want to generate a script for
  3. If the division has multiple rounds, select the specific round
  4. Click either View as Script or View as Grid
  5. The script opens in a new browser tab for printing or display

Working with Multiple Rounds

If your competition has divisions with multiple rounds (such as Prelims and Finals):

  • Each round appears as a separate row under the division name
  • You can generate scripts for each round independently
  • This allows you to announce preliminary results before finals scores are available

Printing Announcer Scripts

Once you've opened the script or grid view:

  1. Press Ctrl+P (Windows) or Cmd+P (Mac) to open the print dialog
  2. Review the print preview
  3. Select your printer or "Save as PDF"
  4. Click Print

Tip: Print a few copies of the script - one for the primary announcer and backups for tabulation staff.

Prerequisites

The Announcer Script feature requires:

  • An activated event - Training events and events without payment do not support announcer scripts
  • Groups assigned - At least one group must be added to the competition

If no groups are assigned, you'll see the message: "There are no groups assigned to this competition. You'll need to add some groups before you can release scores."

Bronze Level Events

Bronze level events (Solo & Ensemble) do not display the Announcer Script option in the left sidebar. This feature is available on Silver and Gold tier events.

Best Practices

  • Print in advance - Generate and print scripts before the awards ceremony
  • Verify scores first - Ensure all scores are locked and verified before generating the final script
  • Use grid for backup - Print both script and grid versions so announcers have a quick reference
  • Coordinate timing - Decide when to print the final script based on when the last scores are entered
