Score Preview Overview

The Score Preview page provides a comprehensive view of competition scores before you release them to groups and the public. Use this feature to monitor live scoring progress, check for ties, preview recaps, and ensure scores are accurate before making them official.

Accessing Score Preview

  1. Navigate to your Organization
  2. Select the Event you want to manage
  3. Click Score Preview in the competition navigation menu

The Score Preview option appears as an eye icon in the navigation bar.

Page Layout

Division and Round List

The main Score Preview page displays all divisions in your competition, organized by their rounds:

  • Single-round divisions show the division name directly
  • Multi-round divisions show the division name as a header with each round listed below it

Processing Status Indicator

When scores are being processed or recaps are being regenerated, you'll see a "scores processing" indicator next to the affected division/round. This appears when:

  • Scores are being calculated
  • Rankings are being updated
  • Recaps are being regenerated

The indicator disappears automatically once processing is complete.

Available Actions

Each division or round includes buttons for the following actions:

Button Description
Live Score Updates Monitor scores in real-time as judges submit them
Judge Recaps Opens printable judge score sheets for verification
Division/Round Summary View a quick standings summary with tie detection
Preview Recap Open the full recap in a new tab
Recalculate Recap Manually trigger score recalculation

Judge Recaps

The Judge Recaps button opens a printable page showing all scores submitted by judges for that division or round. Use this to:

  • Allow judges to verify their scores synced correctly from tablets
  • Create a paper record of judge submissions
  • Identify any discrepancies before releasing scores

See Judge Recaps for detailed information.

Toolbar Buttons

At the top of the page, you'll find:

  • View Combined Recap - Select multiple divisions/rounds to create a combined recap view
  • Caption & Subcaption Ties - Review any tied scores between groups

  2. View the top 3 performances with their ranks and scores
  3. Click Show All Performances to see the complete standings
  4. Review Outstanding category awards at the bottom

Preview and Recalculate Recaps

Preview Recap

Click Preview Recap to open the full recap in a new browser tab. This shows exactly what the final recap will look like when released.

Recalculate Recap

If scores aren't reflecting recent changes:

  1. Click the dropdown arrow next to Preview Recap
  2. Select Recalculate Recap
  3. Wait for the "Recap recalculating…" message to clear

The system automatically recalculates recaps when scores change, but manual recalculation can resolve occasional sync issues.

Empty State

If you see the message "There are no groups assigned to this competition", you'll need to:

  1. Add groups to the competition lineup
  2. Create a schedule with performances
  3. Return to Score Preview once setup is complete

Access Requirements

Score Preview access is controlled by organization permissions. If you see the Score Preview option grayed out, contact your organization administrator to request access.

Solo & Ensemble Events

Score Preview works differently for Solo & Ensemble format competitions. Some features are not available:

Feature Standard Events Solo & Ensemble
Division/Round List Available Available
Live Score Updates Available Not available
Judge Recaps Available Available
Division Summary Available Not available
Preview Recap Available Not available
Recalculate Scores Not shown Available
Combined Recap Available Not available
Caption & Subcaption Ties Available Available

For Solo & Ensemble events, the Recalculate Scores button appears directly in the division row instead of within a dropdown menu. This allows you to trigger score recalculation when needed.

The simplified feature set reflects the different scoring workflow used in Solo & Ensemble competitions, where performances are typically scored individually rather than compared as a group.
